YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police and the State Police Drug Task Force charged a West Yarmouth woman with heroin distribution following her arrest last Friday during a traffic stop.

A 2005 Ford pickup truck driven by Leslie Peterson, 46, was spotted by the task force traveling eastbound on Route 6. They conducted a motor vehicle stop as it entered on to Route 132 in Barnstable.

Peterson began to cry and told officers she was out on bail from her recent arrest on October 27, 2016 in Brewster for heroin and might be going to jail.

Peterson allegedly pulled a knotted corner baggie voluntarily containing five grams of tan powder from her bra. Peterson also allegedly admitted that she travelled to Taunton and purchased six grams for $40.00 a gram as opposed to $100.00 a gram on Cape. A digital scale was also recovered from inside the vehicle.

Peterson reportedly told officers that because of the price difference, she can make a profit on Cape Cod by traveling to Taunton for cheaper prices then re-selling it on the Cape.

Barnstable Police arrived at the scene and Peterson was placed under arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters.

She was later bailed and arraigned earlier this week.
