Yarmouth Police arrest two Involved in heroin transaction

– Yarmouth Police report that on Wednesday at approximately 12:15 p.m., Patrol Officer Sean Geary observed two vehicles in the parking lot of Cape Cod Convenience at 50 Long Pond Drive in South Yarmouth. Inside the vehicles were people well known to Law Enforcement with numerous prior drug encounters. Within a few minutes Patrol Officer Geary conducted a vehicle stop of one of the vehicles for a having an expired safety inspection sticker on Alewife Circle. Yarmouth Police Drug Detection K9 Unit Patrol Officer Sean Gannon arrived with his partner Thor as well as Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Diana Wells as back up. During the stop, Patrol Officer Geary observed Michael Daley (top right) drop a bundle of folded glassine envelopes on the ground. The envelopes are commonly used as packaging for heroin by drug distributors.  These envelopes were stamped “K.O.D.”  Daley was placed under arrest for possession of heroin.  Information was developed on the scene that Daley had just bought the heroin from Heather Bingle (lower right) inside of the convenience store.

bingleheatherelizabeth1Officers returned to the store and located Bingle inside her vehicle still parked in the lot. Drug Detection K9 Thor conducted a sniff for the presence of narcotic odor on Bingle, which was positive.  Officer Geary went inside Cape Cod Convenience and spoke with the store manager and reviewed the surveillance footage from inside the store. The footage showed the drug transaction between Bingle and Daley and Bingle was placed under arrest. Barnstable County Crime Scene Officer Molino was called to the scene and processed the video as evidence. Both Bingle and Daley were transported to Yarmouth Police Department and processed. They were charged with possession of a Class A substance and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act. They were released by the Bail Commissioner upon payment of the standard $40 cash bail fee pending arraignment Thursday in Barnstable District Court.

Bingle’s vehicle was towed to YPD where a more thorough search was completed. Officer Gannon and K9 Thor searched the vehicle again and K9 Thor indicated to the odor of narcotics in Bingle’s purse. Inside of Bingle’s purse was U.S. currency used in the drug transaction.  The money was seized and submitted into property.  Upon further inspection of the seized heroin, there were 6 individual packages.  Each package contained approximately .1 grams of heroin.  The suspected heroin was field-tested by Yarmouth Police Drug Enforcement Detective Christopher Kent with a positive result.  The heroin was tagged and entered into property for further processing.
