Academy of Lifelong Learning to Host Forums

WEST BARNSTABLE – The Academy for Lifelong Learning of Cape Cod will host its Winterim 2017 forums this week at Cape Cod Community College.

The non-profit organization offers its members, who are 50 or older, an opportunity to pursue educational interests and to expand social relationships.

“Looking to the Future: Windows of Hope” will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Science Building of the college.

The focus of topics on Tuesday will be saving the environment and will feature keynote speaker Max Holmes, the deputy director and senior scientist of the Woods Hole Research Center.

Discussions on Wednesday will focus on grandparenting with guest speaker Berry Brazelton, the professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.

Alzheimers will be the focus on Thursday.

Journalist and author of the book “On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s” Greg Obrien will be a guest speaker along with Suzanne Faith, an RN Psych Senior Director with Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services.

Each day will feature afternoon breakout sessions with other speakers related to the day’s topic.
