BLOCK ISLAND, RI – Coast Guard crews from Air Station Cape Cod are helping to search for two missing boaters off the coast of Rhode Island.

Linda Carmen, 54, and her son Nathan Carmen, 22, failed to return from an offshore fishing trip off Block Island. They left Saturday evening from Point Judith, Rhode Island in a 32-foot aluminum center console boat.

Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector Southeastern New England received the report of the missing boaters around 6:30 Sunday night.

The Coast Guard launched a 45-foot rescue boat from Station Point Judith along with a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry plane from Air Station Cape Cod.

The Block Island Harbormaster also conducted searches in and around Block Island Sunday night.

The search continues today and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is searching near southern Narragansett Bay.

Anyone with information about Nathan and Linda Carmen or their missing vessel are asked to call the Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England’s Command Center at 508-457-3211.
