AQUINNAH – The Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah recently purchased eight parcels of land totaling about 17 acres. The property is adjacent to land the tribe currently owns.
Aquinnah Tribal Chair Tobias Vanderhoop said the plan at this point is to simply enjoy the property.
“There is a building on it and unfortunately there are are some wetlands but it adds to the beauty of our homeland. Really it’s just eight parcels of beautiful homeland that we are going to add to our holdings,” he said.
Vanderhoop said the Tribal Council will get together and decide on any future use of the land.
