Arts Foundation Holds Open House in New Main Street Facility

HYANNIS – The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC), the Hyannis organization which provides organization and grants for art projects and collaborations on Cape Cod, unveiled its new headquarters at 396 Main Street Friday night.

AFCC’s new home, above Puritan Clothing, is the second move in the last year for the organization. They had just moved to a building shared by the Bank of Cape Cod at the very beginning of Main Street when that branch announced it would be purchased by a different banking company.

But Executive Director of AFCC Julie Wake said that owner of Puritan Clothing Rick Penn offered to work with the organization to renovate the office above his store.

Wake says the new location is better, since it is centrally located on one of the busiest roadways in the region.

“This is exactly where it should be: in the heart of the HyArts Cultural District, in the business improvement district,” she said. “Just being so accessible to businesses is a reminder that arts matter.”

The open house also gave donors a sneak peak of this weekend’s highlight event with the Cape Symphony and Cotuit Center for the Arts.

The show, a performance of Symphony No. 5 by Dmitri Shostakovich and a play for actors and orchestra, premiered Saturday and continues in a second showing tonight at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.
