CENTERVILLE – The Barnstable Board of Health has revoked the operating license for Knight’s Inn Centerville.

The motel on Shootflying Hill Road was closed last week for at least 60 days.

The motel will need to pass building, fire and health inspections to be able to reopen.

During inspections in January, the facility was found to not be in compliance with several conditions of a settlement agreement following a previous closure in 2016.

“First of all, according to the motel register records, three customers stayed longer than 30 consecutive days and or greater than 45 days in a 90 day period,” said Thomas McKean, the Barnstable Health Director.

Other violations included failing to properly identify guests of individuals staying at the motel, an incomplete guest register, septic issues, unreported emergency responses and suspected drug use and prostitution.

“Whatever happens I apologize,” said Dilip Patel, the motel’s owner. “You guys decide whether I have to pay a fine or something like that. I promise this won’t happen again.”

Patel claimed the issues occurred while he was on vacation for three weeks in January and February.

The motel was closed for about two years before it reopened from the previous shutdown.
