Bourne Taking Steps to Find Next Town Administrator

BOURNE – As the Town of Bourne begins its first search for a new town administrator in 14 years, the man currently in that position is helping to find his replacement.

Bourne Town Administrator Tom Guerino created a draft executive recruitment document for selectmen last week.

“Do with it what you want. Fill in the timelines as you wish, but I thought I’d provide you with at least a document you can work with,” Guerino told selectmen.

The document, called a Request for Qualifications (RFQ), is designed to assist the town in fielding prospective candidates.

Guerino and selectmen issued a statement last month informing the public of the decision to end his employment at the expiration of his contract on June 30.

The RFQ is 13-pages long and features an overview of the Town of Bourne, a description of the job and responsibilities of Town Administrator, minimum requirements applicants must meet, submission deadlines and instructions.

Guerino began his time in front of selectmen by publicly clearing up any rumors of discontent with the board.

“The board and I are, contrary to some thoughts out on the street, are in very good harmony as to the conclusion in the searching for a new town administrator,” Guerino said.

“I think that people need to understand that this is an amicable and agreeable conclusion.”

The Town of Bourne appointed Guerino as Town Administrator in June of 2005.
