Boys & Girls Club to Offer Narcan, Overdose Training

MASHPEE – The Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod will hold a confidential information hour on administering Narcan and Naxalone in the event of an opioid overdose.

The event will take place at the club on 31 Frank E Hicks Drive from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on February 25th and will be completely free of charge.

Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Ruth Provost said that this drug can often mean the difference between life and death.

“Narcan is not an opiate and does nothing but reverse the effect of the opiate for a brief period of time so the person can get some help,” she said.

Provost said other activities at the club for that night have been cancelled in order to maintain a level of confidentiality.

The program will be run by the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod.

Provost said anyone with a loved one who is using, those using opioids themselves or anyone seeking more information may join.
