Cape Cod Young Professionals Names Texas Official as New Executive Director

HYANNIS – A municipal official from Texas has been named as the new executive director of the Cape Cod Young Professionals.

Lauren Barker will replace Ann Van Vleck who left the CCYP earlier this year for a job at the Housing Assistance Corporation.

Barker was most recently the administration manager in Denton, Texas and has already moved to Cape Cod with her family, where she has existing connections.

“Lauren will lead the 1,000 plus member organization as a critical point, taking on the task of connecting, engaging and advancing the lives of young professionals on Cape Cod,” said CCYP Board President Matt Cronin.

Barker will be the organization’s second leader in its 12 years of existence.

“I’m energized about this opportunity as CCYP has a tremendous foundation with a great group of volunteers and funders,” said Barker.

“Cape Cod is a truly special place and I’m very fortunate to find an opportunity to relocate my young family to such a wonderful community.”

She has a Master’s degree in Applied Anthropology from the University of North Texas as is currently completing a second Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

The CCYP works to keep young professionals from leaving Cape Cod for other opportunities, as well as recruiting them to move to the region.

Barker’s first day on the job will be October 9.
