FALMOUTH – Rain wreaked havoc all over the Cape postponing 3 out of the 5 games and cutting short 1 one of the 2 played.
Brewster Whitecaps 5
Falmouth Commodores 3 (F-5)
W: Robert Broom (1-1) L: Scott Politz (2-2)
Falmouth jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. The Commodores added another run in the 3rd off an Alec Bohm (Wichita State) double, his 18th RBI of the season. As the rain continued to fall, the floodgates opened for the Whitecaps in the 4th where a combination of timely hitting, Falmouth free passes and errors, led to a 5 run inning. Falmouth was the recipient of a shortened game victory due to rain on Wednesday. According to Newton’s 3rd law, every action has an equal and opposite action, which rang true on Thursday as the game was called after the 5th.
Hyannis Harbor Hawks 3
Chatham Anglers 1
W: Brooks Crawford (1-0) L: Cameron Bishop (1-1) S: Ethan Larrison (1)
Hyannis rode their pitching to a 3-1 victory of the Chatham Anglers on Thursday night. Brooks Crawford (Clemson) hurled just over 4 innings allowing 1 earned run and 4 hits. The lone run came in the bottom of the 2nd and then after that the Harbor Hawks were near flawless. The bullpen only surrendered 2 hits and struck out 5 in the final 5 innings. At the plate, Ryan Olenek (Ole Miss) blasted his first home run of the summer in the top of the 9th padding the Hyannis lead. Closer Ethan Larrison (Indiana State) stranded two runners in the bottom of the 9th to earn his 1st save of the season.
