BOSTON – Some members of the Cape and Islands legislative delegation will be hosting a briefing on the impacts of National Sea Grant programs in the state on Thursday.

State Representative Dylan Fernandez and State Senators Vinny deMacedo and Julian Cyr will host the presentation with Woods Hole Sea Grant Director Dr. Matt Charette and MIT Sea Grant Dr. Michael Triantafyllou.

The informational session at the State House will highlight local partnerships within the Commonwealth and provide background on the Sea Grant programs in cities and towns across the state.

The briefing will also provide information on how state legislators can best support and work with the Sea Grant programs both at the federal and local levels.

The National Sea Grant College program was established by the U.S. Congress in 1966 and works to create and maintain a healthy coastal environment and economy.
