Cataumet Ice Cream Shop Owner Faces Charges for Vandalism of Competitor

ice creamCATAUMET – The owner of a Cape Cod ice cream parlor faces numerous charges for allegedly encouraging his teenaged employees to vandalize a competitor.

David Ariagno, 53, of Depot Road in Cataumet who is the owner of Lazy Sundaes Ice Cream on Route 28A in Cataumet, was arraigned in Falmouth District Court on Monday on charges of malicious destruction of property, two charges of vandalism of property, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a court clerk.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for February 11.

Court documents state that Ariagno allegedly arranged for his employees to vandalize Somerset Creamery, an ice cream store located a short distance west, also on Route 28A in Cataumet.

Police say the employees led police to Ariagno who, they said, encouraged the vandalism.

Ariagno pled not guilty to the charges.
