CCCF Changes Name to Barnstable Charitable Foundation, Outlines Mission for 2019

BARNSTABLE – A former charitable organization that had dissolved at the end of 2018 is back with a new name and new look in 2019.

Formerly known as the Cape Cod Charitable Foundation (CCCF), the group has changed its name to the Barnstable Charitable Foundation (BCF) and has expanded on its mission.

The CCCF closed its doors in the winter following the Spectacle of Trees, turning over all of its events and activities to the BCF. Contributing to the closure was the retirement of the original CCCF founder in 2016.

This year, the Barnstable Charitable Foundation is planning to produce three signature fundraising events where the organization partners with other local 501(c)3 nonprofits to raise funds and awareness for all organizations involved.

The BCF will also distribute scholarships to students and adults seeking higher education and create a Youth Entrepreneur Academy to expose local high school students to entrepreneurship as a career choice.

“The Board of Directors of the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce had asked me to set up a foundation to do a number of things. One was to operate an academy for students to be exposed to entrepreneurship, so young people on Cape Cod could consider entrepreneurship as a career choice for a life-long experience on Cape Cod instead of just moving away,” said Todd DeLuca of Greater Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce.

“The name of the organization is NFTE and that stands for the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.”

DeLuca adds that the course will offer area students 80 hours of instruction, all related to the common core taught in public schools.

“They will come in and teach our area students who are interested in entrepreneurship how one goes about creating an idea, pitching the idea, creating a business plan and then opening a business to execute the plan,” DeLuca added.

The Barnstable Charitable Foundation has officially listed four objectives:

  1. Raise and distribute funds as scholarships for area high school students and adults seeking continuing education.
  2. Operate YEA! ™, Youth Entrepreneur Academy, for students 13-18 years exposing them to entrepreneurship so that they may consider entrepreneurship as a career option for a life on Cape Cod.
  3. To operate events for area nonprofits to enable maximum fundraising so that our area continues to enjoy a strong nonprofit eco-system as part of a healthy community.
  4. Take on special civic projects to improve and beautify our communities.
