Coast Guard Helicopter Crew Medevacs 2 Patients from Nantucket

coast guard helicopterNANTUCKET – Coast Guard crews from Air Station Cape Cod were kept busy Saturday afternoon transporting patients from Nantucket Cottage Hospital to the mainland.

Coast Guard watchstanders were called around 4 p.m. to transport a 5-year-old girl who suffered an arm injury to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. A MedFlight crew was called for first but was unable to fly due to the weather conditions.

The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was called back to Nantucket just after 6 p.m. to medevac a 66-year-old man suffering from chest pains to Hyannis to be taken to Cape Cod Hospital.

Both patients were reported to be in stable condition.
