Dennis Man Arrested for OUI with Children Passengers

Yarmouth PoliceYARMOUTH – A Dennis man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence Saturday night after driving an SUV into a tree with children passengers.

Police and rescue crews responded to to the area of 490 North Dennis Road in Yarmouth around 10:45 p.m. and found a grey Jeep Cherokee off the road against a tree.

Daniel Eldredge, 35, was charged with operating under the influence, second offense, and a marked lanes violation.

Yarmouth PD Sergeant John Fallon said there were three other passengers in the vehicle, including an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old.

An adult female passenger in the front seat of the Jeep was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries.

The children were taken to the Yarmouth Police Department and were released into the custody of the female passenger after she was released from the hospital, according to Fallon.

Eldredge was released on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
