‘Enough Abuse Campaign’ to Host Breakfast Event

Independence HouseHYANNIS – In the hopes of beginning a community dialogue to curb child sexual abuse, the Cape and Islands Enough Abuse Campaign Committee will host a breakfast event on Friday April 15.

The free event will take place from 9-11 a.m. at the Cape Cod Family Resource Center, located at 29 Bassett Lane in Hyannis.

Service providers, organizations, parents, educators and anyone interested in stopping the “silent epidemic” of sexual abuse in children are invited to attend.

“The more we can acknowledge it and as a community come up with a plan to say no more, that’s the purpose of this,” Independence House Director of Prevention, Education and Outreach Chris Morin said.

The mission of the Enough Abuse Campaign is to prevent child sexual abuse before it starts and Morin states that it requires a comprehensive effort by adults and community members engaging together by knowing “the signs of somebody’s who has been abused, to know red flags in adult behavior and to be able to have a process in place where you can report something.”

To RSVP to the breakfast, contact Morin via email at [email protected].
