Eventide Theatre Company Performance Brings Cartoons to Life

DENNIS – Eventide Theatre Company in Dennis opened a new play this week which focuses on the work of a legendary cartoonist.

Jules Feiffer was a voice of sarcasm and wit for decades across the nation with his work appearing prominently in the Village Voice, The New York Times and The New Yorker, along with being syndicated across the country.

In the late 1960s, Feiffer’s People was created to give his unique characters a theatrical life.

Eventide presents “Feiffer’s People: Sketches and Observations” on the Gertrude Lawrence Stage of the Dennis Union Church.

The show, which is essentially a series of vignettes, comic monologues and sketches, exhibits Feiffer’s characters which mirror our friends and ourselves played out in equal parts Doonesbury and Saturday Night Live.

The script also includes a message of generations trying to make life easier and more prosperous which creates a host of new complications for future generations to grapple with.

The play runs through March 3 with performances on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale online at www.eventidearts.org or at the door.
