FALMOUTH – The Falmouth Fire Department had a busy morning on Sunday during winter storm Neptune.
According to Deputy Chief Timothy Smith, crews were not responding to accidents, but carbon monoxide alarms.
“We had a couple carbon monoxide calls for alarms in homes as a result of the same problem that we have during these storms, when we have snow drifts that block the vents,” said Smith.
Fire departments are continuing to stress that residents check to make sure outside vents are clear for the gas fire heaters to prevent carbon monoxide problems.
“When they are not cleared out we get a backup of the exhaust into the house and it increases levels of carbon monoxide,” said Smith.
