SAGAMORE BEACH – A Sagamore Beach home has been left uninhabitable after a morning fire today.

Bourne firefighters arrived at 76 Sachem Drive just after 9 o’clock.

A wood enclosure around a metal chimney extending from the basement to the outside of the home was fully involved upon arrival, according to Deputy Fire Chief Joe Carrara.

Carrara said the fire spread into the basement, living level and attic of the home and caused about $100,000 worth of damage.

The fire was ruled accidental due to a chimney system issue.

The lone resident of the home was uninjured but he has been displaced and will stay with friends, according to Carrara.

Bourne fire crews were assisted on scene by firefighters from Plymouth and Onset.
