First Two Winners of Massachusetts Vaxmillions Giveaway Announced

HYANNIS – The first two winners of the Massachusetts Vaxmillions Giveaway have been announced, and the deadline for the next drawing is now closed.

Fully vaccinated residents aged 18 and older qualify for the remaining $1 million cash prizes, and those between the ages of 12 and 17 can earn $300,000 in college or trade school scholarships.

Darrell Washington of Weymouth won the first $1 million prize, and Daniela Maldonado of Chelsea won the first of the $300,000 college scholarships.

There are five of each prize in total, with the next drawing set to take place on August 2.

In order to be eligible, individuals must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, permanent residents of the state, and have received all of their vaccination in Massachusetts.

Over 4.3 million residents are fully vaccinated across the state, and over 4.5 million have at least one dose.

Officials hope the program will encourage more residents across the state to get vaccinated, especially as COVID-19 rates have increased in some parts of the state.
