BUZZARDS BAY – Friends and family of injured Bourne Police Officer Jared MacDonald have set up a special fund in his name to help with medical expenses.

The Officer Jared MacDonald Relief Fund was set up at the TD Bank in Buzzards Bay, but contributions can be dropped off at any TD Bank branch.

MacDonald was one of those shot during the incident Thursday in Monument Beach when, police say, the suspect fired on police responding to the scene. He was shot in the back. He remains hospitalized at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

The day of the shooting, Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe said MacDonald had undergone surgery to have the bullet removed and that he was recovering at the hospital.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Lisa Trubnikova, 31, was killed as a result of being struck by multiple gunshots. She had been stationed at Joint Base Cape Cod.

Her wife, Petty Officer Anna Trubnikova, 30, was wounded and remains hospitalized. She was stationed at Woods Hole.

The suspect, Adrian homas Loya, of Virginia was also an active duty member of the Coast Guard. He turned 31 on the day of the crime. He pled not guilty and is being held without bail.

The case remains under investigation by the Bourne Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the United States Coast Guard.
