HYANNIS – The weight of all the recent snow finally took its toll on a gas main at Cape Cod Mall and caused the mall to be evacuated.
Hyannis Fire Department officials said the gas main, located behind Best Bay, broke around 11:30 a.m.
The mall was evacuated for about an hour while National Grid crews worked on repairing the main. Shoppers were allowed back in around 12:30.
There were no reported injuries and no one was transported to the hospital, according to Hyannis Fire officials. Fire officials left the scene at about 1 p.m.
