Harwich Cranberry Festival Set For This Weekend

HARWICH–The 43rd annual Harwich Cranberry Arts and Music Festival will be held this weekend at the Community Center fields on Oak Street.

The festival opens at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Festival President Ed McManus said that the event will help people celebrate the changing of the seasons.

“It’s a time where they get to run into neighbors more so than the tourist community that we have during the summer, and get reacquainted, and do a lot of things that you tend not to do during the summer being a year-round resident,” McManus said.

Guests will be able to enjoy food trucks, live music, arts and crafts, and other activities for the whole family.

The CranJam concert will begin at noon on both days. It will run until 8 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a fireworks show. The CranJam will go until 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Harwich Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cyndi Williams hopes the event will be an opportunity to continue the successes of summer across the town.

“What it does is it helps to extend the season,” Williams said.

“Sometimes, people feel that Labor Day’s the cut off; we lock the bridges. But it really isn’t. The Cape is so alive still, for a long part into the year and especially here in Harwich for this upcoming weekend.”

Admission to the festival is free, as is parking for both cars and bicycles. For more information, visit www.harwichcranberryartsandmusicfestival.org.
