Harwich Woman Arrested for OUI after Multiple Crashes

police04HARWICH – A Harwich woman was arrested on multiple motor vehicle charges including driving under the influence after allegedly crashing in two different locations in Harwich Saturday night.

Emily Jussila, 48, was charged with OUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and leaving the scene of property damage.

Police and rescue crews responded to Main Street between Depot Street and Queen Anne Road just after 10:30 p.m. and said the vehicle Jussila was driving snapped a utility pole.

Rescue crews transported Jussila to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation.

While police were on scene the department received calls reporting broken fence peices and other damage at Holy Trinity Church at the corner of Route 28 and Lothrop Avenue, according to Sergeant Kevin Considine.

After investigating police believe Jussila caused the damage at Holy Trinity Church before crashing into the pole in North Harwich.

Considine said Main Street in the area of the second crash was closed for about four to five hours while NSTAR crews replaced the snapped utility pole.

Jussila is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Orleans District Court.
