Hyannis McDonald’s Closed After Car Crash

mcdonalds crashHYANNIS – The McDonald’s restaurant on Route 132 in Hyannis will be closed for at least the rest of the night after a car drove into the building this afternoon.

The Hyannis Fire Department arrived just before 2:30 to find a Volvo sedan had backed out of a parking spot and ended up three feet into the building just beyond the drive-thru.

Fire Lieutenant Bob Hennessy said the accident caused about $15,000 to $20,000 worth of damage to the building.

There were no injuries to the driver, an elderly man, or anyone inside the restuarant.

Hennessy said building, health and water inspectors were called to the scene to assess the damage to the building.

The manager of the fast food restaurant decided to close the store for the rest of the night.

There are plans to board up the side of the building in hopes of reopening the drive-thru window.
