Scallop Seasons Open on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard

NANTUCKET – Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard recreational scallop fisherman can get out the waders and hit the shore as the season is now open on both islands.

The Vineyard season began Monday and Nantucket opens today. On Nantucket, recreational permits are $35 for residents and $125 for non-residents. Also available is a $50 non-resident permit good for a week.

Recreational scallopers on Nantucket can take one bushel per week, commercial scalloping on Nantucket begins November first.

On Martha’s Vineyard, the limit is one level ten gallon washbucket per week with shells included. The commercial season on the Vineyard begins November 5th.

On the Vineyard, the season will close for both recreational and commercial scalloping on Saturday, March 30th.
