Lowell Park Woodlands Sign to be Unveiled Friday

COTUIT – A new sign marking the 19 acres of land around Lowell Park in Cotuit will be unveiled Friday.

That land, surrounding the home of the Cotuit Ketteleers Cape League baseball team, could have been developed into a housing complex in 2015 before the Barnstable Land Trust collected over 1,600 donations from the community and bought the land for $1.8 million.

Nine homes could have been constructed on the land. The town of Barnstable purchased three of the acres from the Trust using funds from the Community Preservation Act and general fund.

The sign unveiling will take place at 10 a.m.
