COTUIT – Next month, The Theater Under the Stairs will present “Lulu and Mona vs. The Minotaur,” an original play by Holly Erin McCarthy, at the Black Box Theater at Cotuit Center for the Arts.
A brand new musical by the creators of “Lulu’s Lemonade Stand,” “Lulu and Mona vs. The Minotaur” is a thrilling new adventure-comedy for the whole family to enjoy.
The new tale brings together Lulu, played by Celia Cota, and Mona, played by Nora Canaday, on an unpredictable, swashbuckling, and magical journey.
“Lulu” is based on Homer’s “The Odyssey,” and “Mona” is based on Miguel de Cervantes’s “Don Quixote”.
The ten person ensemble cast includes Cota and Canaday along with six other young actors, performing alongside Cotuit favorites, Anthony Teixeira and Hannah Carrita.
“We are very excited about the show and cast,” said McCarthy.
“They are always ready to try new things, it’s so rewarding to see them make these characters their own.”
The story and lyrics were written by McCarthy and the music was written by her as well, with arrangements by Henry Buck.
The show will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 9th to 11th and August 16th to 18th.
Performances are 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $12, for more information visit artsonthecape.org or theaterunderthestairs.weebly.com.
