Mass. Maritime Academy Student Who Dressed in Nazi Uniform No Longer at School

BOURNE – A Massachusetts Maritime Academy student who showed up to breakfast wearing a Nazi soldier costume on Halloween has left the college.

A spokesman for the Buzzards Bay school could only say the student “is no longer a cadet.”

A statement from Adm. Francis McDonald shortly after the incident said several students notified the commandant’s staff immediately, and school officials told the cadet to remove his costume.

“Please know, that the commandant’s office took swift action to resolve this issue prior to morning formation and they immediately launched an internal investigation,” said McDonald, the school’s president.

The admiral previously said the Buzzards Bay campus was not the place for that type of activity, and he applauded the students’ reaction and the quick action taken by his staff.

“I applaud the cadets for being outraged and for immediately bringing this to the attention of staff and I am also quite proud of our staff for taking swift and immediate action,” McDonald said.
