MassHire Brand Launches on Cape and Islands

HYANNIS – The launch of the MassHire brand was announced yesterday by local workforce leaders in Hyannis.

The Cape and Islands Workforce Development Board is now MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board and Career Opportunities is now MassHire Cape and Islands Career Center.

The organizations now join 43 others across the state that will fall under the MassHire banner unifying its name and mission.

“Unifying the brand was critically important for us to be able to put our arms around all of things that we are doing and now be able to really promote the services of MassHire and the career centers in a more unified way,” said Rosalin Acosta, the state’s Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development.

Acosta said that only 6 percent of the state’s 225,000 employers knew there were career centers that could provide help in recruiting new workers.

“Employers are not that aware that they have this free service,” Acosta said. “And in a tight labor market like we have today where everybody is looking to make sure they have new employees come through their door for their openings, we could help them do that,” she said.

The new brand will enhance the ability of employers to recruit new workers, along with providing a better opportunity for individuals for workforce training, job placement and career development.

“We can help job seekers who are either discontent with their current job or if they are looking for a new career opportunity we can help them with that with the resources we have in our career centers,” Acosta said.

Prior to the brand unification, the state’s workforce system combined 29 career centers with 16 workforce boards – each using a different name and logo.

To complement the new brand, the area has launched two new local websites. The MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board website,, will provide information on labor market information and opportunities for employers to engage in building long-term talent solutions in their area. The MassHire Cape and Islands Career Center website,, provides information on current job openings, career and job search services and workshops offered to job seekers, along with human resources services for employers.
