Missing Trawler Discovered

MARTHA’S VINEYARD – The fishing trawler Mistress, the Point Judith, Rhode Island, based vessel that sank on New Year’s Day has been located by a vessel using specialized equipment, according the MV Times.

The uncle of lost crewman John Ansay has been searching for the boat since the sinking. It was located well east of a wind farm in the area, according to Michael Ansay. The vessel was not discovered in real time, but only after data collected during the hunt was analyzed.

It is expected that the Rhode Island State Police Dive Team will eventually investigate the wreck.

The missing vessel triggered a significant search using Coast Guard assets from the Cape and Islands.
