Nantucket Cottage Hospital President to Step Down

NANTUCKET – The President and CEO of Nantucket Cottage Hospital has announced plans to step aside in 2019.

Dr. Margot Hartmann, who has led the hospital since 2010, will leave her post after the completion of the new hospital building in August of 2019.

A search will begin shortly for Hartmann’s replacement, which will likely take several months.

Once a successor is chosen, he or she will take over as CEO and will handle day-to-day operations while working alongside Hartmann, who will retain her role as President until Summer 2019.

“I foresee this as a careful and prudent handover, given these transformative times for our hospital, and look forward to our continuing work together to achieve the best for NCH and the island community we serve,” Hartmann said.

Hartmann started as a physician with Nantucket Cottage Hospital in 1999.

Groundbreaking was held on the new facility in July. The $120 million building, the largest capital campaign in the island’s history, will replace the current hospital, which opened in 1957.

The new hospital is scheduled to open in late-2018.
