Nantucket Harvest Festival to Return to Old Mill

NANTUCKET – An event next weekend on Nantucket will offer several family-friendly activities and a glimpse into the island’s agricultural past.

The Nantucket Historical Association will host the 18th Annual Harvest Fair on Saturday, October 14 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Old Mill on Prospect Street.

NHA staff will lead guided tours of the Old Mill site and explain its operation.

Built in 1746, the mill is the oldest continuously operating windmill in the country.

Other highlights of the Harvest Fair include arts and crafts and pumpkin painting.

Fall refreshments, including apples, apple cider and corn bread, will be served.

Admission to the fair is $5 per child and free for accompanying adults.

The fair carries on the tradition of celebrating the season and its agricultural abundance dating back to the mid-19th century.

The first Nantucket Agricultural Society Harvest Fair was held in 1865.
