ORLEANS- A program aimed at offering food trucks at Nauset Beach in Orleans has proved successful for both the town, the truck vendor’s, and visitors alike.
“With the four concessions we generated almost $63,000 in revenue,” said Town Administrator John Kelly,
The year before, Liam’s generated about $115,000 in revenue for the town.
The building was town down earlier this year when the town determined it was likely to fall into the ocean after the severe March nor’easters.
“This was a learning year for us and a learning year for them. Three of these four concession trucks did not have a truck before this season. In the beginning, it could be said that truck owners were not necessarily sure of what they were walking into,” said Natural Resources Director Nate Sears.
“But with that being said, I think moving forward it’s going to be even better.”
The program was not completely free of all hitches however, as one vendor failed to pay the town close to $8,000 in fees and may be facing legal action by officials.
Talks are already in the works for a ‘concession stand’ style gathering place for patrons to enjoy their meals in a family friendly setting that will include tables and benches.
No word yet on when this gathering spot will open to the public.
