NEW BEDFORD – Southcoast Health was recently named “Best Hospital for Heart Attack Care in New England” by an independent consumer health website.
BetterDoctor ranked the hospital for its low mortality and readmission rates of heart attack patients, and consistent use of best practices and protocols during treatment.
Additionally, Southcoast received the rank of number 8 in the nation for heart attack care.
Southcoast operates Tobey Hospital in Wareham, St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford and Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.
BetterDoctor reportedly used Medicare data to compare hospital quality indicators across six categories, including aspirin at arrival, time to an electrocardiogram, how many patients receive primary PCI interventions within 90 minutes of arrival, door-to-door diagnostic evaluation time, 30-day mortality rates from heart attacks and 30-day re-admission rates.
