New Mashpee Veterans Center to Provide Holistic Treatment Programs

Korean War Veterans Memorial HyannisNEW SEABURY – One-on-one holistic therapy will be provided to veterans in crucial need at the new Grace Veterans Program housed in the former Doreen Grace Brain Center in New Seabury.

The center is run by the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center, based in Hyannis on Main Street.

Veterans Outreach Executive Director Gregory Quilty recently addressed Mashpee selectmen, stating that the New Seabury location will be a more tranquil center for veterans in serious need of therapy.

“The Hyannis office has often been like an emergency room for vets,” Quilty said. “What we’re not trying to do at New Seabury is become a ‘Boys and Girls Club’ for veterans; this is focused on veterans in need, who are having some issues in their life.s”

He said the new location will likely only run on an appointment-only basis, with the organization bringing in counselors to administer mindfulness, yoga and other treatment techniques.

He said small seminars could be hosted in New Seabury in the future, but that the organization would likely use their shuttle bus to cut down on resulting traffic.
