HYANNIS – The Town of Barnstable is hoping to bring more fun into the community one playground at a time.

Town officials unveiled the new playground area at Veteran’s Park Beach Friday.

The playground, which was under construction this past winter and spring, includes swings for all ages and abilities, climbing structures and a tugboat.

Patti Machado, the town of Barnstable Director of Leisure Services said, this is just one of many activities they are introducing to the community.

“We have a lot of work to do in the Town of Barnstable. It’s nice to get the Hyannis area done first. We’re finishing the skateboard park and we’re finishing the basketball park behind there,” said Machado.

The play area sits near the waterfront at the park, adjacent to the picnic area.

Machado said it is a great location for families.

“It’s naturally sloped. You can have a picnic. You can see your kids on the playground and you can see your kids on the water. I mean it doesn’t get much better than that,” said Machado.

Town Manager Tom Lynch and State Representative Brian Mannal were among the dignitaries at the unveiling and ribbon cutting.
