PLYMOUTH – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has selected Elise Burket as the Senior Resident Inspector at the Pilgrim nuclear power plant in Plymouth. Pilgrim is operated by Entergy Nuclear.

Burket will be joining fellow NRC Resident Inspector Brandon Pinson at the Plymouth plant.

In the United States, every commercial nuclear power plant site must have at least two inspectors monitoring day-to-day operations.

Burket joined the NRC in 2008, working as a reactor inspector in the Division of Reactor Safety in Region I, where she was responsible for conducting engineering inspections in the Northeastern United States.

A few years later, Burket went on to become Emergency Preparedness Inspector and served as team leader on several engineering inspections.

Most recently, Burket was part of the NRC’s Mechanical Engineering Branch, conducting reviews and inspections of material degradation issues.

Burket graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering before earning her master’s degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University.

The NRC says it anticipates that Burket will serve as the Senior Resident Inspector at the Pilgrim nuclear power plant until it permanently ceases operations by June 1, 2019.
