Organization Seeks Volunteers to Play with Homeless Kids

Horizons for HomelessHYANNIS – Horizons for Homeless Children is seeking volunteers and will be hosting a Playspace Activity Leader Training program later this month in Hyannis.

Playspace Activity Leaders play with homeless children who live in shelters in Hyannis, Bourne and Falmouth.

Playspace volunteers sign up for two-hour shifts that occur throughout the week. Playspace allows the children an oppurtunity to listen to stories being read, create artwork, dress up as superheroes, play instruments and have fun.

The training program will be held on Wednesday, July 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. To sign up for training sessions visit horizonschildren.org/playspace.

The Playspace program was created with the belief that play is essential to healthy childhood development. The kid-friendly spaces are stocked with books, toys, games and art materials.
