Paramedic Fly Car Coming To Cape Cod

YARMOUTH PORT – A local medical transportation company is introducing a new advanced life support vehicle to Cape Cod.

Coastal Medical Transportation Services said the paramedic fly car will improve response time and resource utilization.

Executive Vice President Spero Theoharidis said the vehicle is the first of its kind on Cape Cod.

“The fly car will allow paramedics to respond to the requesting facility or hospital and begin patient care while waiting for that transporting ambulance to meet them,” he said.

The vehicle has all of the lifesaving equipment that an ambulance has.

Theoharidis says they will not be taking the place of local emergency personnel.  “The fire departments handle all of the 911 calls and emergency work but the patient may need to go to a Boston or city hospital,” he said.

CMTS currently has 25 vehicles and two operation centers covering both ends of the Cape.
