Presentation on Ballot Question 2 in Harwich Open to Public

HARIWCH – The public is invited to attend an educational presentation about Question 2 on the November ballot this week.

The presentation is led by Laura Gang of We the People Massachusetts and hosted by the Harwich Democratic Town Committee at the Harwich Community Center.

Question 2 surrounds campaign spending limits and corporate rights, calling for a Citizens Commission to push a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Participants will be treated with a slide show covering recent Supreme Court decisions and the corresponding effects on democracy and why an amendment is being sought out. The slideshow also looks back at historical movements that caused amendments to be made, including voting rights for African Americans, women, and 18-year-olds.

We the People, a non-partisan, all volunteer network of citizens, is sponsoring the event. Find out more about the group at WeThePeopleMass.org.

The presentation begins at 10:00 a.m. on October 13 at the Harwich Community Center.
