Renovations Completed at Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth

WEST YARMOUTH – As the population on Cape Cod continues to get older, companies continue to invest in senior living facilities.

Maplewood Senior Living has completed an $8 million renovation of its Mayflower Place community on Buck Island Road in West Yarmouth.

The makeover of the 128-unit continuing care retirement community includes a new exterior, grand entryway, lobby, library, bistro and pub, stone fireplaces, salon and spa, chapel and more.

“We’ve made a tremendous commitment to the Cape over the last three or four years or so now and this is just one small part of it,” said Greg Smith, the company’s president and CEO.

“We’ve invested probably close to $115 to $120 million in capital into the central Cape market.”

Smith said the renovations were necessary to deliver quality care for those living in the community.

“It was important because we wanted to give back to the residents,” Smith said. “We wanted to make sure we provided them with an up to date community that provided the latest technology, the latest interior design and the latest programming we could do within the existing bones of the structure.”

The Westport, Connecticut-based company’s investment in the Mid-Cape region includes the 132-unit Maplewood at Brewster and the 75-unit Mill Hill Residence, an assisted living and memory care facility on the Mayflower campus in West Yarmouth.

Permits have been secured to build 51 more units at Mayflower Place.
