YARMOUTH – Brewster State Representative Tim Whelan held his holiday reception and fundraiser Thursday evening that included an appearance by fellow Republican Governor Charlie Baker.
Supporters of the Committee to Elect Tim Whelan joined the representative at the Yarmouth House Restaurant,.
“To look around in here and know that I have the approval of so many of you people, whose opinions I value so much, it means the world to me,” Whelan said as he addressed the crowd.
Governor Charlie Baker spoke highly of the state rep.
“He cares so much about the issues that he gets invested in. He is polite, and he is respectful, but he is forceful,” Baker said.
The fundraiser kicked off Whelan’s campaign to be re-elected as 1st Barnstable District representative in 2020.
Other state and local officials, including Steven Xiarhos, a likely candidate for the 5th Barnstable District state representative seat, were at the event as well.
