SANDWICH – Sandwich High School and the STEM Academy will be open today after students and staff were sent home Monday morning after a water main break.
Custodial workers arrived to work and found a sink hole behind the school.
When they slowed the water flow it made the problem worse and triggered fire alarms in the building. At around 11:00 a.m., the call was made to close the school for the day while the problem was addressed.
The Sandwich Water Department and custodians were able to get the problem fixed.
Sandwich High reopened Tuesday morning.
