OFF THE COAST OF ORANJESTAD, Aruba – The T.S. Kennedy has departed Aruba, the first port-of-call on the annual Massachusetts Maritime Academy Sea Term.
Cadets spent three days enjoying and exploring the island, with some cadets choosing to go to the beach and others snorkeling off the coast. Many went into Oranjestad to watch the Patriots win the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. The game was also streamed on-board the Kennedy.
The Kennedy is now on its way to Barbados, one of four stops on the trip. Other ports-of-call include St. Thomas and Fort Lauderdale.
The nearly two month voyage is a training mission for the students, who handle all operations on-board the vessel.
Cadets have already conducted anchoring drills off the coast of Puerto Rico and took part in an emergency pyrotechnic exercise this past week.
