Sipson Island Purchase Rejected by Orleans Town Meeting

ORLEANS – Orleans residents rejected a town meeting request Monday night to purchase Sipson Island in Pleasant Bay.

Supporters were unable to get the two-thirds majority vote needed for the spending article.

Voters did approve a $47 million article to fund wastewater projects. It still needs final approval at the ballot box on May 21.

Several other debt exclusion questions were approved, including money for road projects and Rock Harbor improvements.
