SANDWICH – A group is being formed in Sandwich in an attempt to combat drug use and explore treatment options as the opiate abuse epidemic continues on Cape Cod.
Linell Grundman is one of the founders of the Addiction Prevention Panel and also serves on the county’s Substance Abuse Council. She said she has seen first-hand the effects of addition.
“I have had many, many, many close personal experiences with young people here whose lives hit the extreme, the people who have become addicted to the opiates and heroin. The young people who have thrown away their lives, who have not been able to finish school because of habitual drug use,” she said.
Anyone interested in serving on the Sandwich Substance Abuse Committee should contact the Board of Selectmen. They are looking for seven to nine members.
