‘The Spaceman’ Lands in Hyannis for BID Fundraiser

HYANNIS – Bill “The Spaceman” Lee pitched in Thursday night at a benefit for the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District’s Lighting Project.

Lee is a legendary Red Sox pitcher was known for on and off field antics and was a fan favorite at Fenway Park for years. He was the evening’s guest of honor.

BID Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain said the BID is partnering with the town to permanently add hard wired “storm-proof” lights on the trees of Main Street.

“Lighting is decorative, it makes you feel safe, it makes you feel warm and welcome,” Wurfbain said.

“Main Street deserves that kind of beautiful TLC.”

Plans for further developments on Main Street over the next few years are being made between the town of Hyannis and BID.

“We’ve been doing it for a few years with the town. We’re formalizing more projects to implement real changes that you can see,” Wurfbain said.
