Truro Approves 70 Acre Land Purchase

TRURO -Truro voters approved every measure on the town election ballot last night by significant margins.

Question 3, which proposed a debt exclusion to purchase about 70 acres of land known as the Walsh Property was approved 234 to 96.

Question 1, which sought funding for the design and construction of new District high school in Harwich, passed 250-71.

Voters also allocated funding for improvements to the tidal area of Eagle Neck Creek, that  proposal was approved 276-53.

A measure changing the name of the town’s Board of Selectmen to Select Board also passed 234-96.

In contested races for municipal positions, Susan Areson defeated Robert Weinstein for a seat on the Select Board and Christine Roderick defeated Thomas Dickey and Kenneth Oxtoby for a position on the School Committee.

In uncontested races Elizabeth Haskell secured a seat on the Cemetery Commission and Anne Greenbaum was elected to the Planning Board.
